This course will examine the fundamental aspects of laser tissue interactions. We will begin with basic concepts such as skin optics and the subsequent migration of light energy into the skin, the absorption of laser energy into the skin, and creation of heat.
Then the field will be broken down into ablative and not ablative technologies, and finally visible light and near infrared technologies for pigmented and vascular lesions.
The attendee should expect to, at the end of the course, have an appreciation for basic physical principles that guide laser procedures in cutaneous applications.
