Wendy W. Lee, MD, MS, is Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Dermatology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She serves as Associate Director of the Bascom Palmer Aesthetic Center and Co-Director of the University’s Cosmetic Medicine Group, a multidisciplinary group comprised of the ophthalmology, dermatology, ENT, and plastic surgery departments.
Dr. Lee earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a Master of Science degree in physiology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She completed both her residency and internship at Tulane, and a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Lee conducts research at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute with special interests in eyelid reconstruction, aesthetic applications in oculoplastic surgery and orbital disease. She also lectures around the world on oculoplastic disorders and aesthetic treatments related to the eye. She’s been published extensively, both in peer-reviewed journals and in teaching textbooks. She also serves as a section editor for Ocular Surgery News and is on the scientific advisory and planning committees for several national and international meetings.
Dr. Lee serves as a key opinion leader for many aesthetic and functional companies. She has received the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The Henry Baylis Award for Excellence in Cosmetic Surgery from the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Professor of the Year Award from the residents at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Outstanding Alumnus from the Tulane University Department of Ophthalmology and was featured on CNN for her charitable work on patients from developing countries, among other honors.
Dr. Lee is the Immediate Past President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, a society dedicated to education, research, and the quality of clinical practice in oculofacial plastic surgery, leading almost 1000 members in the US, Canada and over 30 other countries.
