Arlene Ruiz de Luzuriaga is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Dermatology, Co-director of the Pigmented Lesion Clinic, and Vice-Chief for Dermatopathology Operations at the University of Chicago. Her clinical focus is on total body photography, dermoscopy, skin cancer surveillance, and melanoma prevention and early detection. She is interested in use of technology for the improvement of patient care, diagnosis and treatment algorithms, quality improvement, and medical education.
Through her role as the Director of Innovation and Digital Technology for the Bucksbaum-Siegler Institute for Clinical Excellence at the University of Chicago, she seeks to support initiatives and research that examine how the patient-doctor relationship is affected by the implementation of digital health technology and artificial intelligence, and how this can serve to guide the development and incorporation of such innovations in healthcare.
