David Bean is an engineer and laser technology expert, best known as the founder and CEO of NIRA Skin, a beauty-tech company pioneering at-home laser skincare devices. With a background in mechanical engineering, Bean built his career developing semiconductor laser technologies used in professional dermatology and medical systems worldwide.
Prior to launching NIRA, he founded Seminex Corporation, a company specializing in advanced laser chips used in applications such as space navigation, autonomous vehicles, military systems and professional medical lasers. He also spent decades supplying laser diode technology to dermatologists and aesthetic clinics through his earlier ventures, gaining deep expertise in clinical-grade skin treatments. Recognizing that these procedures were often expensive, painful, and inaccessible to many consumers, Bean founded NIRA in 2012 to bring professional-level results into the home through safe, non-fractional laser technology.
Under his leadership, NIRA has developed FDA-cleared devices designed to stimulate collagen production and reduce wrinkles without the downtime or side effects associated with traditional treatments. Bean’s work sits at the intersection of science, engineering, and consumer wellness, with a mission to make advanced skincare technology more accessible, affordable, and user-friendly.
