Lebanese American University
Zeina Tannous, M.D., is a tenured Professor and Chair of Dermatology at the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine at the Lebanese American University (LAU), and Chief of Dermatology at LAU Medical Center–Rizk Hospital. She also serves on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. A graduate of the American University of Beirut School of Medicine, she completed her dermatology residency at Harvard Medical School, followed by fellowships in Dermatopathology, Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery, and Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology. She is board certified in the United States in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
Dr. Tannous has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, reviews, and book chapters. She co-authored the Cosmetic and Laser Dermatology textbook, later serving as first author of its second edition, and authored the Comprehensive Textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology, Laser and Energy-Based Therapies (2022). She served as a guest editor for Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, European Society for Laser Dermatology, Lebanese Dermatologic Society, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
She has delivered more than 250 lectures internationally and has been deeply involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows in Lebanon and the United States. Dr. Tannous has held several leadership roles, including Associate Program Director for Dermatopathology at Harvard Medical School. In 2018, she became the founding chair of the Arab Board of Cosmetic Dermatology, where she developed the fellowship curriculum. She is also the founding chair and co-residency program director of Dermatology at LAU.
Her research focuses on laser applications in dermatology, non-invasive skin imaging, and treatments for vascular lesions and skin cancer. She has led multiple studies, holds three patents, and has contributed significantly to advancing laser-based therapies.
