Dr. Karina Maciel is a board-certified vascular surgeon and angiologist from Brazil with over 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases. She is certified by the Brazilian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery (SBACV) and has extensive expertise in minimally invasive venous procedures, vascular ultrasound, and laser-based therapies.
Dr. Maciel has been actively involved in advancing the use of laser technologies in vascular medicine, with a particular focus on high-intensity Nd:YAG laser applications for chronic lower-limb ulcers and vascular skin care. She currently practices at Instituto de Angiologia BrasÃlia (IAB), where she combines clinical care, research, and physician training.
She is also actively involved in the IAB Hands-On Laser Program, an educational initiative focused on training physicians in practical laser applications for vascular and aesthetic treatments. Through this program, she helps provide hands-on instruction in advanced laser techniques, contributing to the dissemination of safe and effective laser practices among healthcare professionals.
